Enhancing the performance of boundary footing of a renovated building using micropiles: Numerical and Site Visual Assessment

Reconstruction and building extensions have become popular trends, even being recognized as one of the most appropriate options for homes, especially in high population density areas or crowded cities. Due to changes size buildings (by applying additional loads), existing foundations themselves are incapable resisting extra stresses. Therefore, it is imperative increase bearing capacity well overall stability foundations. The paper aims present a numerical case study on use micropile elements enhancing performance boundary footing renovated terms stability. Moreover, effect cohesionless soil types was presented. Numerically calculated results show that footing, presented safety factor, increased strengthened by micropiles. ratio (BCR) significantly improved when relative distance (S) between decreased, length micropiles (L) increased; however, BCR rose micropile’s angle (() with respect vertical increase. In other words, foundation underneath affected some parameters, including length, inclination, footing. These crucial factors must be carefully examined during design micropiles’ configuration strengthening Lastly, load-carrying improvement loose sand using found more significant than denser ones.
